Mares At present there are five brood mares at Dalbrae. They have been hand picked for their Weston, Imperial, Flowerdale and Cherry Tree bloodlines. Dalbrae Tori (Weston Park Tipperary x Flowerdale Temp [SOD Imperial Pablo])
Dalbrae Tavy (Imperial Haroun x Hazelmere Megan [SOD Hazelmere Highlight])
Dalbrae Tavy is the only offspring at Dalbrae from our foundation Welsh Mountain mare Hazelmere Megan (H Highlight x Twyford Tavy (imp) [SOD Twyford Ghurka). Sadly she died after only a couple of foals but not before she produced a lovely black filly by Robynn and Christina Johnston’s Imperial Haroun (Waxwing Herod (imp) x Imperial Haley). D Tavy has produced some nice foals including D Megan (Weston Park Tipperary x D Tavy) who was Supreme Exhibit at the 2002 SA Welsh Youngstock Show as a yearling and Supreme Youngstock Exhibit at the 2002 SA All Welsh as a two year old. Flowerdale Bracelet (Weston Park Piccolo x Imperial Bumblebee [SOD Weston Hoopla]
We purchased Flowerdale Bracelet from Janet Evans at Weston Park as a yearling although she was bred by Annie Brockoff at Flowerdale. She is the only pony at Dalbrae that carries the Weston Park ‘S’ line with her sire by Weston Singer who goes back to Hisland Singer. F. Bracelet’s progeny include D. Bonnie and D. Bella (both by Weston Park Vintage). She is back in foal to WP Vintage and we will probably mate her to WP Tipperary in 2008.
Cherry Tree Lilac (Twyford Negus x Twyford Siloquette (SOD Twyford Gurka)
Cherry Tree Lilac was bred by Anna Barker. Lilac is a beautiful mare of Twyford, Revel and Coed Coch breeding. CT. Lilac has had three foals for us, D. Llewellyn (x WP Tipperary); D. Llud (x WP Tipperary) and D. Lowri (x WP Vintage). Both Llewelyn and Llud were gelded and sold on as saddle ponies. We will retain D. Lowri to show in hand and then mate to WP Tipperary.
Weston Virgilia [DEC] (Carnalw Hyderus x Weston Deena [SOD Weston Hoopla])
W. Virgilia came to Dalbrae from Weston Park with a colt foal at foot, Weston Park Vintage. W Virgilia had a highly successful show career with well know Victorian pony breeder David Ross. She is one of the few ponies left in Australia to carry the renowned Weston Stud prefix. W. Virgilia has bred many foals for Weston Park and Dalbrae including WP Vintage (x W. Paladin), WP Vespers (x W Paladin), WP Verbena (x Owendale Bart) and Dalbrae Verity (x WP Tipperary).
Weston Park Verbena (Owendale Bart x Weston Virgilia [SOD Carnalw Hyderus) W.P Verbena came to Dalbrae as a two year old from Weston Park. She carries an outcross to Owendale Bart who sired many of the top ponies at Osory Stud. WP Verbena has bred some lovely ponies by WP Tipperary at Dalbrae and remarkably has only produced fillies being D. Vanity, D. Viola and D. Violet. Until recently we had old Cherry Tree Mignonette (Tywford Nutkin (imp) x Twyford Mirth (imp) on loan from Anna Barker. CT Mignonette was a full sister to the magnificent CT Mimosa. Before loosing her to old age, ‘Minty’ produced two super bay fillies by WP Tipperary, D. Mimi and D. Melba. We plan to mate D. Melba to WP Vintage in 2008.
